Und hier ist schon der zweite Teil meiner Reihe für mehr Nachhaltigkeit im Alltag. Ich hoffe, der erste Teil hat euch die Augen geöffnet und ihr habt etwas an eurer eigenen Nachhaltigkeit verändert (oder verändern können).
Und weiter geht’s.
- Hundekotbeutel aus Plastik?! Geht das auch anders?
Für mich als Hundehalterin ist es ein innerer Konflikt den Kot meines Hundes mit einer Plastiktüte aufzusammeln. Ich habe kein Problem damit, den Kot einzusammeln und ich verstehe den Unmut Anderer über Hundekot auf Gehwegen, in der Stadt, auf Spielplätzen usw. absolut. Aber warum muss es eben eine Plastiktüte sein. Ich habe mal mitgezählt, mein Hund macht sein Geschäft ca. 4 Mal am Tag, also vier Tüten am Tag. Im Jahr komme ich somit auf ganze 1.440 Tüten. Das finde ich ganz schön viel Plastikmüll, für ein eigentlich natürliches Problem (denn der Hundekot wäre ja eigentlich biologisch abbaubar).
Dazu kommt, dass einige Hundebesitzer sich die Marotte angewöhnt haben, den Kot zwar mit der Tüte aufzusammeln, aber diese dann vor Ort liegen zu lassen. Bis zum nächsten Mülleimer reicht es nicht und der Plastikbeutel gammelt also in der Natur vor sich hin und kann nicht entsprechend entsorgt werden. Sinnfreier geht es nicht.
Als wir in Holland waren, gab es dort auch Stationen für Hundekotbeutel, aber aus Papier, sogenannte Hundekotgreifer. Ein Beutel aus recycelten Papier, der den Kot mit Pappe greift, direkt in den Beutel befördert und sogar Tragegriffe hat. Wie cool ist das denn?! Und warum kann Holland das, aber Deutschland nicht?
Ich habe die Beutel ebenfalls in diversen online Shops in Deutschland entdeckt. Hier könnt ihr sie euch ansehen. Und ich werde diese Beutel jetzt benutzen, denn ich möchte einfach nicht so viel Plastikmüll erzeugen. Vielleicht hab ich hier ja jetzt ein paar Hundehalter erreicht, die noch nicht einmal wussten, dass es diese Beutel gibt. Und ich hoffe, es ist eine Alternative für euch ab jetzt.
- Recycling von alter Kleidung
Ich finde es schade Kleidung wegzuwerfen, wenn sie eigentlich noch funktionstüchtig ist und getragen werden könnte. Ja es gibt die Altkleidersammlung und Trödelmärkte. Aber Altkleidersammlung finde ich auch schade, denn diejenigen, die dann am Ende die Kleidung bekommen (und man geht ja davon aus, man spendet die Kleidung) müssen trotzdem etwas dafür bezahlen. Also habe ich für mich beschlossen Trödelmärkte zu besuchen und dort zu verkaufen. Kleidung selbst zu verschenken und selbst abzugeben, wo sie benötigt wird oder meine Altkleider bei H&M oder Zara zu entsorgen. Zara und H&M nutzen die Altkleider, um damit neue im Rahmen ihrer Nachhaltigkeitsprojekte herzustellen.
Ich finde ein wichtiger Schritt in die richtige Richtung. Bei Zara ist das Konzept relativ neu, bei H&M hingegen gibt es die Altkleiderboxen schon mehrere Jahre. Zara holt sogar die Kleidung bei euch zu Hause ab – also das ist doch mal was. H&M gibt euch übrigens einen 15% Gutschein für ein Kleidungsstück eurer Wahl für jede Tüte Altkleider, die ihr dort abgebt. Ich finde diese Schritte zeigen eine klare Tendenz in der Modeindustrie und große Marken wie Zara und H&M haben hier endlich ihre Funktion als Vorreiter wahrgenommen und gehandelt. Also überlegt euch gut, was ihr mit eurer alten Kleidung macht.

- Dog poo bags – plastic?! There has to be an alternative
For me as dog owner I am constantly in an inner conflict once I have to collect the poo of my dog with a plastic bag. I am not complaining about picking up the poo but rather why it has to be a plastic bag?! I am picking up something natural, which nature will recycle easily but adding a plastic bag is making the entire thing more ridiculous. I counted that my dog has to poo approx. four times a day, which means four plastic bags a day. In a whole year that means 1,440 bags. What a mess of plastic waste.
And even some dog owners now pick up the poo but leave the plastic bag with the poo on the pavement or in the nature and don’t put it into a bin. So the plastic bag is rotting in the nature and not being recycled. That does not make any sense at all! Then it would have been better to just leave the poo.
When we went to the Netherlands this summer I saw lots of stations for dog poo bags – but except they were not made of plastic but recycled paper. They are called „poo-grab“ and work quite easily. I loved them so I want to find out where in Germany I could get them. I mean why are they available in the Netherlands but not here?
So I found them in an online shop here. I am now using these bags and other eco bags, which are more easy to recycle and I believe if I can only convince some of you do to the same, that it is a big step forward.
- Recycling of old clothing
I don’t like throwing away old clothing, because I am sure most of these is still usable and others would be happy to wear it. I love vintage or flea markets and I donate clothing to the red cross, but even at the red cross in the end people have to pay to buy my clothing again. And that is what I don’t like, if I donate I want them to get it for free. So I decided to see the clothing myself at vintage markets or donate it directly myself, give it to others. Another way, which works for me is to bring my old clothing (which I don’t want to donate, because it is really old) to Zara or H&M. They will use the old clothing to produce new ones – for their conscious collections.
Zara and H&M are so popular when it comes to clothing and they are sending a signal by these projects – it is a step forward into the right direction. Zara just recently added the clothing boxes into their store whereas with H&M the concept has been there already for quite a while. If you order online with Zara you may even give them your clothing when receiving your parcel. And at H&M you will get a 15% voucher for a discount on a garment of your choice for every bag of old clothing you donate.
So you decide what works best for you but please – don’t close your eyes for these opportunities to be more sustainable.
